I will be standing as a candidate for Cardiff Central in the forthcoming General Election, because I believe that, as a Nation, we should help those who are struggling for survival in the developing world.
There are 1 billion people who could be lifted out of extreme poverty if we decided, together, to give them the money they need for clean water, basic medicine and sufficient food.
In order to do this we need to be prepared to spend our own money to help them. None of us has enough money to save all of them on our own, but if we all give together, we will be able to do it.
It is true that the rich Nations already give money to help the developing nations. But they do not give enough. There is a shortfall.
There is an extra amount we need to find to bridge the gap between what is already given and what is enough to properly solve the problem.
If we each agreed to give 5% of our income to help to save those who are struggling for survival in the third world, we would raise £26.6 billion per annum.
Our political leaders know that this is what is needed, but they will not do it, or ask you to agree with it, because they are afraid it will make them unpopular.
Therefore the only way to really make a difference is for us, the voters, to prove to the politicians, that this is what we want to do with our money.
And the only way to prove it, is for us to Vote for it.
And that is why I am standing for election as a Member of Parliament.
If you vote for me, you will be beginning to prove, that we are ready and willing to take this step.
